Perhaps just as amazing, Goydos led by only one stroke asdefending champion Steve Stricker shot a 60.

OAKMONT, Pa. (AP) - Somebody forgot to remind Kelli Shean she'san amateur. Shean, a University of Arkansas golfer playing in onlyher second major professional tournament, shot a 1-under 70 andtrails first-round leader Brittany Lang by one shot enteringtoday's second round at the U.S. Women's Open outside Pittsburgh.

TORONTO (AP) - Major League home run leader Jose Bautista hithis 23rd homer, one of Toronto's five homers in the Blue Jays' 8-1win over Minnesota. Fred Lewis, Adam Lind, Jose Molina and LyleOverbay also went deep for the Blue Jays, who hit 10 homers in thethree game series and lead the majors with 130.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - An auction to sell the Texas Rangers isin limbo following opposition to the process that would have beencontrolled by Major League Baseball. Just days after seeking courtapproval for the July 16 auction, the Rangers withdrew its motionfollowing opposition from the court-appointed restructuring officerin the bankruptcy case.

Chicago jumps ahead of the Minnesota Twins forsecond place in the AL Central and trail the Detroit Tigers by onegame.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - In his final start before his second trip tothe All-Star game, Florida ace Josh Johnson scattered six hits overeight innings and lowered his major league-leading ERA to 1.70 tohelp the Marlins beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0. Johnson threw117 pitches and came within three outs of his first shutout in 94big league starts, improving to 9-and-3 in the process.

DENVER (AP) - There's an excellent pitching matchup thisafternoon in Denver, where the Rockies will be shooting for athree-game sweep of the Cardinals. Ubaldo Jimenez has struggled inhis last three outings but still brings a 14-and-1 record and 2.27ERA into his start against St. Louis. The Cards counter with ChrisCarpenter, who has won five of his last six decisions and brings a9-and-2 record and 3.17 ERA to the Coors Field mound.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Clippers have reachedagreement in principle with Vinny Del Negro (NAY'-groh) to becomethe team's new coach. He was fired as coach of the Chicago Bulls inMay after going 82-82 in two seasons and leading the team to twopost-season appearances.

DENVER (AP) - Seth Smith's three-run homer capped a nine-runninth inning and gave Colorado a 12-9 win over St. Louis. ChrisIannetta (eye-uh-NET'-uh) also hit a three-run homer as part of thelargest ninth-inning comeback in Rockies history.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The Yankees Alex Rodriguez has tied MannyRamirez for second place on the career list with his 21st grandslam. That was one of two homers Rodriguez had in a 6-1 win overOakland.

DETROIT (AP) - Johnny Damon's two-run homer in the bottom of theeleventh gave Detroit a 7-5 win over Baltimore and capped off amemorable night for the outfielder. Earlier in the game, Damonrecorded his 2,500th career hit.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - A spectator fell 30 feet from the seconddeck at Rangers Ballpark while trying to catch a foul ball in theRangers-Yankees game Tuesday night. A Rangers spokesman says theman was able to move all his extremities and was responsive toparamedics who strapped him onto a stretcher and took him to ahospital.

The Knicks say they intend to sign Stoudemire to acontract later this week that could be worth $100 million over fiveyears and the former Phoenix center says he's working on recruitingfellow free agents LeBron James and Dwyane Wade to New York withhim.
