AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Kansas State is starting to look like a
team nobody wants to play in the NCAA tournament. Rodney McGruder
scored 22 and Jacob Pullen scored 16 of his 20 points in the second
half in leading unranked Kansas State to a 75-70 upset of
seventh-ranked Texas on the Longhorns' home court.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Tim Abromaitis made a career-high nine
3-pointers and scored 30 points and Ben Hansbrough added 30 points
and 10 assists in No. 8 Notre Dame's 93-72 rout of No. 19 Villanova
that secured a double bye in the Big East tournament. The Irish
finished their home season with a perfect 17-0 mark.
WASHINGTON (AP) - Luol Deng (LOO'-ul dehng) and Derrick Rose
scored 21 points apiece, Joakim Noah (JOH'-keem NOH'-ah) had 19 and
the Chicago Bulls beat the Washington Wizards 105-77 to move within
a game of the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls never
trailed as they won their third straight and seven of eight.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Channing Frye hit a 3-pointer with 6.6
seconds to play in overtime and the Phoenix Suns spoiled Deron
(DAHR'-ihn) Williams' home debut for the Nets with a 104-103
victory over New Jersey. Williams had 13 points and a season-high
18 assists in the loss.
UNDATED (AP) - The Los Angeles Kings made the biggest move of
NHL trade deadline day by prying forward Dustin Penner away from
the Edmonton Oilers. Penner was the main marquee player to change
teams in what was an out-of-character slow deadline day in the NHL.
