MIAMI (AP) - Rajon Rondo (RAH'-zhan RAHN'-doh) scored 44 points in 53 minutes, but the Boston Celtics still lost 115-111 to the Miami Heat in overtime to fall behind two games to none in the Eastern Conference finals. LeBron James finished with 34 points and 10 rebounds for the Heat, who trailed by 15 in the first half and were down by 11 in the third quarter before protecting home-court advantage. Dwyane (dwayn) Wade had 23 points and Mario Chalmers added 22 for Miami.
NEW YORK (AP) - The Charlotte Bobcats were losers at the NBA draft lottery after posting the worst winning percentage in league history. The New Orleans Hornets won the lottery and will choose first in next month's draft, followed by the Bobcats, Washington, Cleveland and Sacramento. Portland, Golden State, Toronto, Detroit and the Hornets will round out the top 10 selections.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Anze Kopitar (AHN'-zhay KOH'-pih-tahr) scored on a breakaway at 8:13 of overtime as the Los Angeles Kings defeated New Jersey 2-1 in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals. Jonathan Quick stopped 17 shots and was perfect after Anton Vochenkov beat him late in the second period. Colin Fraser also scored for the Kings, who are 9-0 in road playoff games this year.
PARIS (AP) - The French Open continues today with the second seeds highlighting the Day-5 action. Rafael Nadal takes on Denis Istomin and Maria Sharapova faces Ayumi (ah-YOO'-mee) Morita. Other high seeds scheduled include Andy Murray, Petra Kvitova (KVEE'-toh-vah), David Ferrer and John Isner.
LANDOVER, Md. (AP) - The U.S. men's soccer team was soundly beaten in a friendly against Brazil near Washington. Neymar converted a penalty kick and assisted on goals by defenders Thiago Silva and Marcelo as Brazil came away with a 4-1 victory. Herculez Gomez had the lone goal for the Americans, who ended a five-game winning streak.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Tony Parker scored 34 points, Manu Ginobili (MAN'-oo jih-NOH'-blee) added 20 and the San Antonio Spurs stayed perfect in the playoffs with a 120-111 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder to take a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals last night. The Spurs set an NBA record with their 20th consecutive victory bridging the regular season and the playoffs.
MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Heat can go 2-up on Boston when those teams meet tonight in the Eastern Conference finals. The Heat's defense clamped down on Boston in their 93-79 win in the opener as the Celtics scored just 11 points in the first quarter and only 33 points in the second half.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The sixth-seeded New Jersey Devils are hosting the eighth-seeded Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup finals opener tonight at Prudential Center. The Devils were 2-0 against the Kings in the regular season, with one victory coming in a shootout against Los Angeles, which has won 12 of 14 games in this year's playoffs.
UNDATED (AP)- Two of baseball's best pitchers hit the disabled list yesterday. Philadelphia ace Roy Halladay is out six to eight weeks with a strained pitching shoulder and the L.A. Angels' ace Jered Weaver will miss at least two starts with a lower-back injury that forced him to leave Monday night's start in the first inning.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Philip Humber (UM'-buhr) won for the first time since throwing a perfect game on April 21, and the Chicago White Sox extended their winning streak to seven games by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 7-2. Hideki Matsui (hih-DEK'-ee mat-SOO'-ee) homered in his Tampa Bay debut. The rays purchased the 2009 World Series MVP's contract from Triple-A Durham before the game.

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Heat clamped down their defense in the second half, holding Boston to just 33 points in posting a 93-79 win in the opener of the NBA Eastern Conference finals. LeBron James led the way with 32 points and 13 rebounds and Dwyane Wade scored 10 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter.

(AP)) - Chris Sale struck out a career-high 15 -- one short of the White Sox team record -- and Adam Dunn hit a two-run homer as Chicago ran its winning streak to six games with a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay. Dunn has 16 homers, including 11 times in May, after hitting just 11 all last season.
UNDATED (AP) - Lance Lynn of the St. Louis Cardinals and Cole Hamels of the Philadelphia Phillies are baseball's first eight-game winners. Lynn helped the Cardinals hand the Atlanta Braves their eighth straight loss 8-2 while Hamels pitched the Phils past the New York Mets 8-4.
PARIS (AP) - Serena Williams, the fifth seed at the French Open, is in action on Day two at Roland Garros Stadium today. Williams, a 13-time Grand Slam champion, plays Frenchwoman Virginie Razzano (vur-ZHEE'-nee rad-ZAH'-noh) in her first match of the tournament after U.S. women went 10-0 on their first day at the French Open.

The Spurs erased a nine-point deficit that stunned the Thunder, who were led by Kevin Durant's 27.
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Kasey Kahne (kayn) powered to victory in the Coca-Cola 600 last night, winning NASCAR's longest race for the third time. It's his first win with Hendrick Motorsports. He finished nearly five seconds ahead of Denny Hamlin with Kyle Busch third and Sprint Cup series points leader Greg Biffle fourth.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP)- The Indianapolis 500 went to Scotland's Dario Franchitti (DA'-ree-oh fran-KEE'-tee) for the third time. In the winner's circle, Franchitti donned a pair of white sunglasses to honor Dan Wheldon, who won the 500 a year ago but was killed in a crash at Las Vegas in the final race of the 2011 season.
ATLANTA (AP)- The Washington Nationals finished a three-game sweep of Atlanta with a 7-2 victory over the Braves, who suffered their seventh straight loss. Gio Gonzalez struck out 10 and limited the Braves to just two runs on one hit over his seven innings while improving to 7-1.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Philadelphia fireballer Roy Halladay gave up a grand slam to Yadier Molina (YAH'-dee-ay moh-LEE'-nah) in an abbreviated two-inning start before leaving with shoulder soreness, and the St. Louis Cardinals avoided a four-game sweep with an 8-3 win over the Phillies. The Phillies were looking for their first four-game sweep in St. Louis in 99 years.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)- Dwyane (dwayn) Wade scored 41 points and he and LeBron James combined for 69 points in the Miami Heat's Game 6 series clinching 105-93 victory over Indiana last night. The Heat now play the winner of Boston-Philadelphia Game 7 on Saturday in the Eastern Conference finals starting next week.
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) -Roger Chapman shot a 3-under 68 to take the first-round lead at Harbor Shores at the 73rd Senior PGA Championship. John Cook was a stroke back, and Steve Pate (payt), J.L. Lewis, Jeff Sluman (SLOO'-muhn), Jay Haas, David Frost and Jim Carter shot 70.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Former champ Zach Johnson takes a one-shot lead into the second round at the Crown Plaza Invitational in Texas after firing a 6-under 64 yesterday. Jason Dufner, rookie Harris English, Tom Gillis and Kyle Reifers are tied for second.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The New Jersey Devils can advance to the Stanley Cup finals with a victory at home tonight against the New York Rangers. If the Rangers win, they'll host a Game 7 Sunday at Madison Square Garden with the winner moving on to take on the L.A. Kings.
UNDATED (AP) -With his horse I'll Have Another prepping for a run at the Triple Crown in just over two weeks, trainer Doug O'Neill has been suspended 45 days by the California Horse Racing Board. The punishment won't begin before July 1, ensuring he will be able to saddle his Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner in the Belmont Stakes on June 9.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The eighth-seeded Philadelphia 76ers are still alive in the NBA playoffs after forcing a Game 7 with an 82-75 win over the Boston Celtics last night. The Eastern Conference semifinal will be decided Saturday night in Boston, where the Celtics are 17-4 all-time in Game 7's at home.

NEW YORK (AP) - The New Jersey Devils jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes, but needed a go-ahead goal by Ryan Carter with 4:24 left to beat the New Jersey Rangers 5-3 and take a 3-2 series lead in their Stanley Cup Eastern Conference. Game 6 is Friday night in Newark, N.J.
NEW YORK (AP) - Alex Rodriguez gave Will Smith a rude welcome to the major leagues by hitting two homers off the rookie to back another strong start for Andy Pettitte (PEHT'-iht) in the New York Yankees' 8-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. A-Rod snapped a 52 at-bat homerless drought and drove in three runs.
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The Senior PGA Championship starts today at the 6,822-yard, par-71 course at Harbor Shores in Michigan. The tournament will take place without its defending champion Tom Watson, who had to withdraw because of a wrist problem.

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Heat own a three-games-to-two lead in the NBA's Eastern Conference semifinals after they thoroughly dominated the Indiana Pacers 115-83. LeBron James had 30 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Heat, which held the Pacers to 34 percent from the field. Dwyane (dwayn) Wade added 28 points and helped Miami shoot a playoff team-record 61 percent.
MIAMI (AP) - The Indiana Pacers finished last night's loss in Miami without starting forwards Danny Granger and David West due to injuries. Granger left the game in the third quarter with a sprained left knee, and the Pacers say West suffered a left knee sprain. The Pacers trailed by 11 at the time of Granger's injury and were outscored by 21 the rest of the way.
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Dustin Penner scored at 17:42 of overtime to give the Los Angeles Kings a 4-3 win over the Phoenix Coyotes, putting L.A. in the Stanley Cup finals for the first time since 1993. Drew Doughty had a goal and an assist for the Kings, who will take on either the New York Rangers or New Jersey Devils in the finals. Los Angeles has won 10 straight road playoff games dating to last season, breaking the NHL mark set by the Islanders in 1982 and '83.
BALTIMORE (AP) - Kevin Youkilis (YOO'-kih-lihs) homered for Boston on Tuesday, hours after coming off the disabled list. Youkilis had been sidelined since April 29 because of a strained lower back. The Bosox also placed outfielder Cody Ross on the 15-day disabled list with a broken left foot, put Ryan Sweeney on the 7-day concussion DL and purchased the contract of outfielder Scott Podsednik from Triple-A Pawtucket.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles County prosecutors have declined to file felony charges against four men arrested for a postgame beating and brawl outside Dodger Stadium over the weekend. Police said the Sunday night fight after a 6-5 Dodger victory over St. Louis was just a minor fender-bender that spiraled out of control.

Russell Westbrook scored 28 points, including a pair of three-point plays in a 14-3 spurt that put the Thunder ahead to stay in the third quarter. Kevin Durant contributed two three-pointers during a 10-0 run to start the final period before finishing with 25 points and 10 rebounds.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - The Orlando Magic are searching for a new head coach and a general manager after dismissing Stan Van Gundy and Otis Smith. Van Gundy compiled a 259-135 record in five seasons as head coach, and Smith molded playoff teams in each of his six seasons as GM. The Magic reached the NBA Finals three years ago, but there was friction between Van Gundy and Dwight Howard before the All-Star center suffered a back injury that required season-ending surgery.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Brian McNamee finally got to name names in front of the jury handling the Roger Clemens perjury trial, saying yesterday that he enabled former Clemens teammates Andy Pettitte, Mike Stanton and Chuck Knoblauch to receive human growth hormone. McNamee is Clemens' former strength coach and the only person to claim firsthand knowledge of Clemens using steroids and human growth hormone. McNamee was initially barred by Judge Reggie Walton from naming names for fear that such information would prejudice the jury, but Walton changed his stance after McNamee's credibility was attacked by Clemens' attorney last week.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - The San Antonio Spurs have advanced to the NBA's Western Conference finals as Tim Duncan finished with 21 points and nine rebounds in a 102-99 triumph over the Los Angeles Clippers. Tony Parker finished with 17 points, including consecutive baskets after the Clippers went ahead 97-96 with 2:27 remaining. The Spurs have swept both of their first two playoff rounds and own an 18-game winning streak dating to the regular season.

Doan notched a power-play goal in the first period and also tallied in the second stanza to support Smith's third shutout of the postseason. Jonathan Quick handled 19 shots for the Kings, who lost for only the second time in 13 games this postseason.
NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Rangers will be without forward Brandon Prust tonight for Game 4 of the NHL's Eastern Conference finals, which the Blueshirts lead 2-1. And Azahara Munoz beat Candie Kung 2 and 1 to win the Sybase Match Play Championship, a title that was set up when Morgan Pressel was penalized for slow play while in control of their semifinal match.

UNDATED (AP) - The Oklahoma City Thunder ended Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal against the visiting Lakers on a 9-0 run and beat Los Angeles 77-75 to grab a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven matchup. Earlier in the evening, the Boston Celtics hammered the 76ers 107-91 in Philadelphia to take a 2-1 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal.
NEW YORK (AP) - Larry Bird has hit the trifecta. The Pacers president is adding NBA Executive of the Year to a resume that already includes three MVP awards as a player and a trip to the NBA Finals as a coach. He's the only one with all three.

The eighth-seeded Kings, who knocked off Vancouver and St. Louis in the first two rounds, went on the road and beat Phoenix 3-2 in the opener of the Western Conference finals to improve their road record to 6-0 in this year's playoffs.
MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Heat rode a 32-point, 15-rebound effort from league MVP LeBron James to beat the Indiana Pacers 95-86 in the opener of their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff. Chris Bosh scored 13 points for Miami, but left late in the first half with a lower abdominal injury and was scheduled for an MRI to determine the extent of the problem.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - For just the third time in their 41-year franchise history, the L.A. Clippers have won a playoff series. Kenyon Martin scored seven of his 11 points in the fourth quarter in the Clippers' 82-72 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 7 of their opening round series to send the Clippers into a second-round matchup against top-seeded San Antonio.

PHILADELPHIA (AP)- The Philadelphia 76ers are the fifth No. 8 seed to win a first-round NBA playoff series against a No. 1 seed after dumping the Chicago Bulls 79-78 last night as Andre Iguodala (ihg-woh-DAH'-lah) won it with a couple of free throws with 2.2 seconds left. In his second season, coach Doug Collins has led the Sixers to their first winning season in seven years.
BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Celtics are the next challenge for Doug Collins and his 76ers with that second-round series starting Saturday night in Boston. The Celtics eliminated the Atlanta Hawks with an 83-80 win in Game 6 led by Kevin Garnett's 28 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks and hit the go-ahead bucket with 31 seconds left.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Washington fireballer Stephen Strasburg struck out 13 Pirates in six innings of work in the Nationals' 4-2 win in Pittsburgh last night. Adam LaRoche hit a two-run home run, Roger Bernadina and Rick Ankiel (an-KEEL') added solo shots for the Nats, who own a half-game lead over Atlanta atop the NL East.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - More than 60 former NFL players have filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles, joining hundreds of others who claim pro football didn't properly protect its players from concussions. The lead plaintiff is Hall of Famer Art Monk, who played wide receiver for the Washington Redskins from 1980 to 1993 and says he suffered multiple concussions that are causing continuing problems to this day.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 35 points and Amare Stoudemire added 14 before fouling out.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Memphis Grizzlies staved off elimination by taking Game 5 of their NBA first-round series 92-80 over the visiting Los Angeles Clippers. Marc Gasol had 23 points and seven rebounds for the Grizzlies, who led by as many as 22 in the second half before sending the series back to Los Angeles for Game 6 on Friday. Mo Williams had 20 points for the Clippers while Chris Paul scored 19.
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Capitals will head back to New York for Game 7 of the NHL's Eastern Conference semifinal series following last night's 2-1 triumph over the Rangers. Alex Ovechkin (oh-VEHCH'-kin) scored 88 seconds into the game, Jason Chimera notched the game-winner in the second period and Braden Holtby finished with 30 saves. NEW YORK (AP) - New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera is dealing with a blood clot in his right calf less than a week after tearing the ACL in his right knee. He needs to spend at least a week or two strengthening his knee before he has surgery, and he says the clot is not delaying the procedure. Meanwhile, Yankees substitute closer David Robertson gave up four runs in the ninth inning of last night's 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay.
GRAPEVINE, Texas (AP) - The Dallas Cowboys have filed a brief in their challenge of a $10 million salary cap reduction by the NFL. Owner Jerry Jones says his team followed the rules before being penalized. A hearing is set today before arbitrator Stephen Burbank on appeals by the Cowboys and the Washington Redskins, whose cap was reduced by $36 million. The two NFC East teams were penalized for overloading contracts in the 2010 uncapped season despite league warnings.

Hamilton also doubled to finish with an American League-record 18 total bases.
NEW YORK (AP) - New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte is scheduled to make his season debut Sunday afternoon against Seattle in the Bronx. Pettitte retired followed the 2010 season and decided to make a comeback this spring, appearing in four minor league games. Pettitte turns 40 next month and is 240-138 with a 3.88 ERA over a 16-year major league career.

NEW YORK (AP) - New York Knicks guard Baron Davis suffered more than a dislocated right kneecap during the third quarter of Sunday's 89-87 win over Miami. An MRI performed Monday also revealed Davis tore both the ACL land MCL in the knee while also suffering a partial tear of the patella tendon. The 33-year-old Davis is expected to be out a year, putting his career in jeopardy.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Former Saints defensive lineman Anthony Hargove describes in a sworn statement how he was told by ex-Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and current Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt to deny the existence of a bounty program to NFL investigators. In a document obtained by The Associated Press, Hargrove acknowledges that he acted on Williams' and Vitt's instructions to "play dumb" if asked whether he was aware of bounties being placed on former Minnesota quarterback Brett Favre (fahrv) or any other player. Hargrove is appealing the eight-game suspension he received from the NFL in connection with the bounty probe.

Rivera is a 12-time All-Star and baseball's all-time leader with 608 saves.
SAN DIEGO (AP) - The death of former San Diego Chargers linebacker Junior Seau (SAY'-ow) has been ruled a suicide. The San Diego County medical examiner's office says the autopsy has determined Seau died Wednesday of a gunshot wound to the chest. Seau's death follows the suicide last year of former Chicago Bears player Dave Duerson (DOO'-ur-suhn), who also shot himself in the chest.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - There's a three-way tie for the lead heading into the second round of the PGA's Wells Fargo Championship. DETROIT (AP) - Detroit Tigers outfielder Delmon Young has received a seven-day suspension from Major League Baseball following his arrest in New York on a hate crime charge last week. The commissioner's office says the suspension is retroactive to Friday, the day Young was arrested after a late-night tussle at his hotel during which police say he yelled anti-Semitic epithets.
