KWBG Sports for May 24th

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The eighth-seeded Philadelphia 76ers are still alive in the NBA playoffs after forcing a Game 7 with an 82-75 win over the Boston Celtics last night. The Eastern Conference semifinal will be decided Saturday night in Boston, where the Celtics are 17-4 all-time in Game 7's at home.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Miami Heat will be without forward Udonis Haslem (yoo-DAH'-nihs HAZ'-lehm), who's been suspended for tonight's Game 6 against Indiana because of a flagrant foul committed in the previous game. The Heat, who've won the last two games in their series against the Pacers, take a 3-2 series lead into tonight's game in Indiana.

NEW YORK (AP) - The New Jersey Devils jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes, but needed a go-ahead goal by Ryan Carter with 4:24 left to beat the New Jersey Rangers 5-3 and take a 3-2 series lead in their Stanley Cup Eastern Conference. Game 6 is Friday night in Newark, N.J.

NEW YORK (AP) - Alex Rodriguez gave Will Smith a rude welcome to the major leagues by hitting two homers off the rookie to back another strong start for Andy Pettitte (PEHT'-iht) in the New York Yankees' 8-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. A-Rod snapped a 52 at-bat homerless drought and drove in three runs.

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The Senior PGA Championship starts today at the 6,822-yard, par-71 course at Harbor Shores in Michigan. The tournament will take place without its defending champion Tom Watson, who had to withdraw because of a wrist problem.
