LOS ANGELES (AP) - The San Antonio Spurs have advanced to the NBA's Western Conference finals as Tim Duncan finished with 21 points and nine rebounds in a 102-99 triumph over the Los Angeles Clippers. Tony Parker finished with 17 points, including consecutive baskets after the Clippers went ahead 97-96 with 2:27 remaining. The Spurs have swept both of their first two playoff rounds and own an 18-game winning streak dating to the regular season.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Miami Heat have evened their NBA Eastern Conference semifinal series at two games apiece with yesterday's 101-93 comeback win over the Pacers at Indianapolis. LeBron James and Dwyane (dwayn) Wade combined for 23 points during a 25-5 spurt that put the Heat ahead 77-66 in the second half. James finished with 40 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists, and Wade contributed 22 of his 30 points after intermission.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mike Smith stopped 36 shots, Shane Doan scored twice and the Phoenix Coyotes avoided a sweep in the NHL's Western Conference finals by defeating the Kings 2-0 in Los Angeles. Doan notched a power-play goal in the first period and also tallied in the second stanza to support Smith's third shutout of the postseason. Jonathan Quick handled 19 shots for the Kings, who lost for only the second time in 13 games this postseason.
NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Rangers will be without forward Brandon Prust tonight for Game 4 of the NHL's Eastern Conference finals, which the Blueshirts lead 2-1. Prust has been suspended for one game by the NHL for his elbow to the head of New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov during New York's win in Game 3.
UNDATED (AP) - Jason Dufner picked up his second PGA victory in three weeks by edging Dicky Pride by one shot in the Byron Nelson Championship near Dallas. And Azahara Munoz beat Candie Kung 2 and 1 to win the Sybase Match Play Championship, a title that was set up when Morgan Pressel was penalized for slow play while in control of their semifinal match.
