The Spurs set an NBA record with their 20th consecutive victory bridging the regular season and the playoffs.

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Heat can go 2-up on Boston when those teams meet tonight in the Eastern Conference finals. The Heat's defense clamped down on Boston in their 93-79 win in the opener as the Celtics scored just 11 points in the first quarter and only 33 points in the second half.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The sixth-seeded New Jersey Devils are hosting the eighth-seeded Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup finals opener tonight at Prudential Center. The Devils were 2-0 against the Kings in the regular season, with one victory coming in a shootout against Los Angeles, which has won 12 of 14 games in this year's playoffs.

UNDATED (AP)- Two of baseball's best pitchers hit the disabled list yesterday. Philadelphia ace Roy Halladay is out six to eight weeks with a strained pitching shoulder and the L.A. Angels' ace Jered Weaver will miss at least two starts with a lower-back injury that forced him to leave Monday night's start in the first inning.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Philip Humber (UM'-buhr) won for the first time since throwing a perfect game on April 21, and the Chicago White Sox extended their winning streak to seven games by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 7-2. Hideki Matsui (hih-DEK'-ee mat-SOO'-ee) homered in his Tampa Bay debut. The rays purchased the 2009 World Series MVP's contract from Triple-A Durham before the game.
