KWBG Sports for June 10th

DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Mavericks are one victory away from
their first NBA title. The Mavs got 29 points from Dirk Nowitzki
(noh-VIHT'-skee) and Jason Terry contributed 21 off the bench in
beating Miami 112-103 to take a 3-2 series lead in the NBA Finals.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - After losing two lopsided
games in Boston by a combined score of 12-1, the Vancouver Canucks
are back home for Game 5 tonight against the resurgent Bruins in a
series tied 2-2. The Canucks are hoping for steadier goaltending
from Roberto Luongo, who was yanked after allowing four goals
Wednesday night.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies' lead in the
National League East has dwindled to two games over Atlanta. The
Phils dropped a 4-3 decision to the Chicago Cubs in 11 innings
while Atlanta handed the Florida Marlins their ninth straight loss,
3-2.
CHICAGO (AP) - Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko each hit two-run
homers and the Chicago White Sox spoiled the debut of Oakland
interim manager Bob Melvin by beating the Athletics 9-4 last night.
Melvin replaced Bob Geren (GEHR'-ehn) earlier in the day, but the
change couldn't keep Oakland from its 10th straight defeat.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Scottsdale police say Arizona
Diamondbacks television announcer and former major leaguer Mark
Grace was arrested on Memorial Day on suspicion of driving under
the influence of alcohol. A Diamondbacks spokesman says the team
had no comment on Grace's arrest, calling it a "pending legal
matter."
