two throwing errors as South Carolina edged Florida 2-1 in 11th
innings to take Game 1 of the College World Series final. The
Gamecocks' defense kept them alive, throwing out two runners at
home plate in the bottom of the ninth and another in the 10th.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Maicer Izturis (MY'-sur ihz-TUR'-ihs)
drove in the winning run with a bases loaded single in the tenth
inning to give the Angels a 4-3 win over Washington. The game

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky men's basketball coach John
Calipari has been given a two-year contract extension through 2019,
making his contract worth $36.5 million. In his first two seasons
as coach, the Wildcats have gone 64-12, including 33-0 at home in
Rupp Arena and reached the Final Four this year.
NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans Hornets' leading scorer David
West says he will test the NBA's free agent market. He started 70
games last season, averaging 18.9 points to go with 7.6 rebounds
before tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament during a game on
March 24.
