KWBG Sports for December 14th

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia Flyers star Claude Giroux
(zhehr-ROO'), the leading scorer in the NHL, is out indefinitely
with a concussion. He's the second star NHL player this week forced
to the sidelines with concussion-like symptoms, following
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby, who's also out
indefinitely.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - Bryan Little scored a power-play goal
with 5 minutes remaining in regulation, lifting the Winnipeg Jets
to a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild. Ondrej Pavelec (AWN'-dray
pah-vah-LEHK') stopped 34 shots to help the Jets, who've won eight
of their last nine at home.

BOSTON (AP) - Brad Marchand scored twice and backup Boston
goalie Tuukka (TOO'-kuh) Rask earned his first shutout of the
season in the Boston Bruins' 3-0 victory over Los Angeles in the
Kings' first game under interim coach John Stevens. The Kings fired
Terry Murray on Monday and replaced him with Stevens but the Kings
lost their fifth straight nevertheless.

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) - Big surprise in the Jerry Sandusky sexual
abuse case yesterday. After indicating he was looking forward to
confronting his accusers in a preliminary hearing, Sandusky waived
that hearing and his lawyer, Joseph Amendola, is denying a plea
deal is in the works.

DENVER (AP) - The Denver Nuggets have re-signed Nene (nuh-NAY')
to a five-year deal, keeping the unrestricted free agent through
2015-16. The Denver Post first reported that the Brazilian center
had agreed to the contract that could be worth up to $67 million.
