to Skye Dawson with 4:26 left to lift No. 16 TCU to a 31-24 victory
against Louisiana Tech in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego last
night. It was the eighth straight victory for Mountain West

LOS ANGELES (AP) -Kobe Bryant may be less than 100 percent
healthy when the L.A. Lakers open the season on Christmas Day
against the Chicago Bulls--if he plays at all. The Lakers are
saying Bryant has torn ligaments in his wrist and he is listed as
day-to-day.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP)-The playoff-bound Houston Texans are hoping to
end their winless streak in Indianapolis when they take on the 1-13
Colts tonight. The 10-4 Texans, who already have clinched the AFC
South, has a 0-9 record all-time at Indianapolis.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - AJ Allmendinger hit the jackpot
yesterday. After losing his primary sponsor with Richard Petty's
team, Roger Penske quickly hired the improving Sprint Cup driver to
replace Kurt Busch in the No. 22 car in what is believed to be a
two-year deal.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -Darryl Sutter, who hasn't coached in the NHL
since the 2005-06 season, makes his debut behind the L.A. Kings
bench tonight against Anaheim at Staples Center. The Kings and
Ducks are two of six teams to make coaching changes since the start
of the NHL season.
