KWBG Sports for August 27th

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - In the battle of American League
division leaders, the Minnesota Twins salvaged the final game of a
four-game series in Texas with a 6-4 win over Cliff Lee and the
Rangers. Delmon Young hit a three-run homer and Jim Thome
(TOH'-mee) connected for his 18th homer in support of Francisco
Liriano, who won his 12th game.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Albert Pujols (POO'-hohlz) hit his 400th home
run, becoming the 47th major league player to reach the milestone.
The 30-year-old Pujols became the third-youngest player to reach
400 homers in the St. Louis Cardinals' 11-10, 13-inning loss to
Washington last night.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Houston Astros completed their first
four-game sweep of the Phils in Philadelphia with a 5-1 victory as
Wandy Rodriguez won his 10th game. The Astros are the only NL team
with a winning record - 30-and-16 - against the Philadelphia since
2004. The Phils fell three games back of Atlanta in the NL East.

PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) - Tiger Woods is in an unfamiliar position as
he gets ready for the start of second-round play at The Barclays,
the first event of the four-tournament FedEx Cup playoffs. Woods is
tied for the tournament lead with Vaughn Taylor after firing a
6-under 65 yesterday.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Pittsburgh Penguins won't re-sign forward
Bill Guerin (GEHR'-ihn), preferring instead to give several young
forwards a chance to play on one of their top lines. The
39-year-old Guerin scored 21 goals last season and had four more
during the playoffs but the Pens say they plan to give a longer
look during training camp to younger forwards Eric Tangradi, Dustin
Jeffrey and Mark Letestu (leh-TEHS'-too).
