kWBG Sports for August 30th

DENVER (AP) -Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger
(RAWTH'-lihs-bur-gur) will meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell
(guh-DEHL') after Thursday night's final preseason game to see if
his suspension will be reduced from six games to four, which would
make him eligible for the Oct. 17 game against Cleveland.
Roethlisberger was suspended six games after being accused of
sexually assaulting a Georgia college student in March.

ATLANTA (AP) - Brian McCann capped a comeback with a
replay-assisted home run in the bottom of the ninth that gave
Atlanta a 7-6 win over Florida and kept the Braves' lead in the
National League East two games over Philadelphia. It's the first
time a major league game has ended on a call using the video replay
by the umpires.

UNDATED (AP)- Cincinnati won, St. Louis lost, so the Reds have
increased their lead in the National League Central to five games
over the Cardinals. The Reds rallied in the ninth to beat the
Chicago Cubs 7-5 to win 12 of 16 against the Cubs this season while
the Cardinals were dropping their third of a four-game series in
Washington, 4-2.

CHICAGO (AP) - A person familiar with the situation tells The
Associated Press that the Los Angeles Dodgers are close to sending
Manny Ramirez to the Chicago White Sox. The deal is expected to be
finalized today, although whether it's a straight trade or a waiver
claim is still unclear.

ISTANBUL (AP) - Like a difficult road trip in the NBA, the U.S.
national basketball team today is playing its third game in three
days in the FIBA (FEE'-buh) World Championships after beating
Slovenia 99-77 yesterday to run its record to 2-and-0. Today, coach
Mike Krzyzewski's (shuh-SHEF'-skeez) team takes on Brazil (2:30
p.m. Eastern time.)
