NEW YORK (AP) - New York Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni says the
cost of acquiring superstar Carmelo Anthony was worth it. Anthony
was netted in a three-team, 13-player trade that involved Minnesota
and Denver.
NEW YORK (AP) - Carmelo Anthony is expected to make his New York
Knicks debut tonight against Milwaukee. The Knicks formally
acquired Anthony from Denver when he signed a three-year, $65
million contract extension.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma City Thunder spoiled All-Star
slam dunk champ Blake Griffin's return to his hometown by beating
the Los Angeles Clippers 111-88. Griffin had 28 points, 11 rebounds
and eight assists in the loss as he threatened his first
triple-double in the NBA.
MIAMI (AP) - LeBron James scored 31 points, Dwyane (dwayn) Wade
added 23 and the Miami Heat opened their post-All-Star schedule
with an easy 117-97 win over the Sacramento Kings. Chris Bosh
scored 22 for Miami, which won for the 11th time in its last 12
games.
DALLAS (AP) - In the NHL, Nick Palmieri scored a power-play goal
with 5:37 left and Johan Hedberg stopped 19 shots for his 17th NHL
shutout as the New Jersey Devils won their eighth straight, 1-0
over Dallas. The surging Devils are 16-1-2 in their last 19 to move
closer to playoff contention in the Eastern Conference.
