KWBG Sports for October 12th

DETROIT (AP) - The Detroit Tigers have pulled within two games
to one in the American League Championship Series by downing the
Texas Rangers 5-2 last night. Miguel Cabrera had one of the Tigers'
three solo homers and finished with two RBIs to support Doug
Fister, who limited the Rangers to two runs in 7 1/3 innings.
Victor Martinez and Jhonny Peralta also hit solo shots for Detroit.

CLEMSON, S. C. (AP) - Clemson quarterback Tajh Boyd says he's
been cleared to practice with a strained hip he injured against
Boston College last weekend. Boyd sat out Monday's workout as he
recovered from the hard hit by Eagles defensive end Max Holloway
early in the third quarter. Coach Dabo Swinney says Boyd will get
all the work with starters before the eighth-ranked Tigers put
their 6-0 record on the line against Maryland this Saturday.

BOSTON (AP) - Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein is
about to help another franchise try to end a long World Series
drought. A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated
Press that Epstein is likely to join the Chicago Cubs within the
next 48 hours. Boston won two World Series under Epstein after
going 86 years without a title, and the Cubs have gone 103 years
without a championship.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Tim Tebow will be the Denver Broncos'
starting quarterback when they take on the Miami Dolphins in their
next game October 23. Tebow has never started since being taken by
the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL draft. He replaces
Kyle Orton who has struggled this season as the Broncos have only
won once in five games.

HOUSTON (AP) - NFL owners have awarded the 2015 Super Bowl to
the Phoenix area, which beat out Tampa. It will be the third time
the region hosts the game, which will be played in Glendale, Ariz.
The league also announced at the owners meetings Tuesday that the
2014 Super Bowl at the Meadowlands will take place February 2.
