ST. LOUIS (AP) - Randy Wolf outfoxed the St. Louis Cardinals for
seven innings to earn his first postseason win at age 35, and the
Milwaukee Brewers doubled up the Cards 4-2 to even the NL
Championship Series at 2-all. Jaime (HY'-mee) Garcia faces Zack
Greinke (GREHN'-kee) in tonight's Game 5.
   
     DETROIT (AP)- The ALCS is moving back to Texas for Saturday
night's Game 6 after the Detroit Tigers' 7-5 win over Texas that
cut the Rangers' series lead to 3-2. Alex Avila, DelmonYoung and
Ryan Raburn all homered in support of Justin Verlander, who hurled
133 pitches over seven and a-third innings for his second
postseason victory on top of the 24 games he won in the regular
season.
   
     NEW YORK (AP) - Commissioner David Stern said his "gut" tells
him there will be no NBA basketball on Christmas without a labor
agreement by Tuesday. That's the day when owners and players are
scheduled to meet with a federal mediator, a date that Stern is
calling a "really big deal."
   
     CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Tony Stewart is the pole-sitter for
Saturday night's Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway,
the fifth of the 10-race Chase for the Championship. Stewart stands
seventh in the Chase for a Championship, 19 points behind Edwards.
   
     PITTSBURGH (AP) - Dennis Wideman's (WYD'-muhnz) power-play goal
2:48 into overtime lifted the Washington Capitals to a 3-2 victory
over the Pittsburgh Penguins last night. The Caps have won eight
regular-season games in Pittsburgh.
