KWBG Sports for September 21st

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Clayton Kershaw notched his 20th victory by
pitching the L.A. Dodgers to a 2-1 win over San Francisco, ending
the Giants' eight-game winning streak. Kershaw is the Dodgers'
first 20-game winner in 21 seasons and is 20-5 overall, and 5-0
against the Giants this season.

NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Yankees can clinch their 16th trip
to the postseason in the last 17 years with one victory today in
their day-night doubleheader against Tampa Bay, which fell 5-0 to
the Yanks last night. The Yanks lead Boston by a season-high six
games in the AL East with the Red Sox owning a two-game lead over
the Rays in the wild card as both those teams lost last night.

CHICAGO (AP) - Shaun Marcum threw eight strong innings and the
Milwaukee Brewers moved a step closer to the NL Central title with
a 5-1 win over the Chicago Cubs. Milwaukee needs a combination of
three wins or Cardinals losses to clinch the division after the
Cardinals rallied with six runs in the seventh inning to beat the
New York Mets 11-6 last night.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Two people with knowledge of the
negotiations say the Oakland Athletics have reached agreement to
name Bob Melvin their permanent manager with a new three-year
contract. Melvin is expected to formally receive his new deal in
the coming days.

NEW YORK (AP) - Twelve is enough for the Pac-12, which has
decided not to expand. Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas
Tech were among those considering a potential move from the Big 12,
which now appears to have a new lease on life.
