KWBG Sports for September 9th


GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) - The reigning Super Bowl champs beat the
team they unseated for the title in last night's NFL opener. After
a game filled with offense, the Green Bay Packers stopped the
visiting New Orleans Saints from a yard out on the final play to
preserve a 42-34 victory.
   
     STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - Brandon Weeden threw for 397 yards and
two touchdowns to Justin Blackmon in No. 9 Oklahoma State's 37-14
win over visiting Arizona. Blackmon had 128 yards on 12 receptions
to extend his NCAA record streak to 14 straight games with at least
100 yards receiving.
   
     TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Misssouri is the second member of the AP's
Top 25 to take the field this week. The 21st-ranked Tigers are on
the road to play Arizona State under the lights. Arizona State will
debut its new black uniforms and will be holding a "Black Out"
game, with all the fans expected to wear black shirts
   
     NEW YORK (AP) - Top seeds Novak Djokovic (YOH'-koh-vihch)
Caroline Wozniacki (wohz-nee-AK'-ee) were among Thursday's winners
at the U.S. Open. So were Americans Serena Williams, Andy Roddick
and John Isner (IHZ'-nur). Roddick and Isner are scheduled to play
again this afternoon.
   
     NEW YORK (AP) - All of the rain at the U.S. Open forced the
tournament to change its schedule. Organizers have pushed the men's
final to Monday for the fourth consecutive year.
