KWBG Sports for September 16th

UNDATED (AP) - San Francisco nipped the L.A. Dodgers 2-1 for its
10th win in 14 games and is just a half-game back of San Diego in
the NL West race and a half-game behind wild-card leader Atlanta.
The Padres dropped a 9-6 decision to Colorado and the Braves got
beat 4-2 by Washington.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - Tampa Bay reclaimed first place in
the AL East with a 4-3 victory over the now second-place Yankees.
Dan Johnson belted a pair of two-run home runs to help the Rays
claim a series victory over the Yanks, who fall a half-game off the
pace.

CINCINNATI (AP) - The NL Central-leading Cincinnati Reds bring
an eight-game lead over St. Louis into this afternoon's outing
against visiting Arizona. It's the only matinee on a light major
league schedule that includes four National League games and two
American League contests.

NEW YORK (AP) - The folks responsible for administering the top
individual award in college sports say now that Reggie Bush has
forfeited the Heisman Trophy he won as a star running back at
Southern California, the 2005 award will remain vacant. There had
been some sentiment that the trophy be given to Vince Young. The
former Texas quarterback was the runner-up to Bush in that year's
voting.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - On Friday, an NCAA committee will hear an
appeal by A.J. Green via conference call, opening the possibility
that the Georgia receiver could play Saturday when the Bulldogs
face No. 12 Arkansas in a crucial SEC game. Green, who sat out
Georgia's opening two games, is hoping for a reduction of the
four-game suspension he was handed for selling an Independence Bowl
jersey for $1,000 to someone deemed to be an agent by the NCAA.
