KWBG Sports for September 6th

UNDATED (AP) - The San Francisco Giants are within a game of San
Diego for first place in the National League West after the Padres
suffered their 10th consecutive loss. Troy Tulowitzki
(too-loh-WITS'-kee) drove in two runs and Melvin Mora singled home
the tiebreaking run in the seventh inning as Colorado downed San
Diego 4-2. Jonathan Sanchez allowed just three hits in seven
innings to lead the Giants past the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-0.

UNDATED (AP) - Atlanta's lead in the National League East
remains a game over Philadelphia after the Braves and Phillies
lost. Atlanta erased a 6-0 deficit before pinch-hitter Scott
Cousins poked a game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th to
lift the Marlins past the Braves 7-6. Prince Fielder smacked a
three-run homer in the first inning to put Milwaukee ahead to stay
in a 6-2 triumph against the Phillies.

NEW YORK (AP) - Darrelle Revis (dah-REHL' REE'-vihs) and the New
York Jets have agreed to a new contract, ending the All-Pro
cornerback's holdout. The contract could be signed as early as
today, getting Revis back on the field in time for the opener next
Monday night against Baltimore at home.

HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) - Tony Stewart pulled away from Carl Edwards
on the final restart and completed an impressive victory in the
Emory Healthcare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Stewart finished
1.3 seconds ahead of Edwards to end a victory drought of almost one
full year. Jimmie Johnson was third, following by Jeff Burton, Kyle
Busch and Kurt Busch.

NEW YORK (AP) - Top seed Rafael Nadal (nah-DAHL'), American Sam
Querrey, David Ferrer and No. 8 Fernando Verdasco were among the
third-round winners at the U.S. Open yesterday. Fourth-round
winners on the women's side include defending champ Kim Clijsters
(KLYS'-turz), two-time champion Venus Williams, and Francesca
Schiavone (skee-uh-VOH'-nee).
