KWBG Sports for November 11th

AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn football coach Gene Chizik declined
to answer questions about an ESPN report Tuesday that said
quarterback Cam Newton told a Mississippi State recruiter that his
father wanted him to go to Auburn because "the money was too
much." According to the report, one of Mississippi State's
recruiters said Newton's father told him it would take "more than
a scholarship" for his son to attend Mississippi State. All Chizik
would say about Newton yesterday is that he'll start for the
second-ranked Tigers against Georgia on Saturday.

NEW YORK (AP) - Three members of the Cincinnati Reds won
National League Gold Gloves yesterday, including third baseman
Scott Rolen for the eighth time. Reds second baseman Brandon
Phillips and pitcher Bronson Arroyo also won the award, as did
Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (too-loh-WITS'-kee) and Rockies
outfielder Carlos Gonzalez. Rounding out the NL Gold Glove
recipients are St. Louis first baseman Albert Pujols (POO'-hohlz),
Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (YAH'-dee-ehr moh-LEE'-nuh),
Philadelphia outfielder Shane Victorino and Houston outfielder
Michael Bourn.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - The Athletics have acquired outfielder
David DeJesus from the Kansas City Royals for right-hander Vin
Mazzaro and minor league lefty Justin Marks. DeJesus batted .318
with five homers and 37 RBIs in 91 games with Kansas City this
year, missing the last two months following right thumb surgery.
Mazzaro spent three stints with the A's in 2010, going 6-8 with a
4.27 ERA in 122 1/3 innings.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - The New England Patriots have signed
former Cincinnati kicker Shayne Graham after losing Stephen
Gostkowski (guhst-KOW'-skee) to a season-ending thigh injury.
Gostkowski felt tightness in his right thigh while warming up
before Sunday's 34-14 loss at Cleveland. He didn't return after
kicking off following a New England touchdown in the second
quarter.

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Dolphins signed free-agent cornerback Al
Harris and named Chad Pennington as their starting quarterback for
Sunday's game against Tennessee. The 35-year-old Harris was
released by Green Bay on Monday and hasn't played since sustaining
a left knee injury last November. Pennington will be making his
first start since he suffered a season-ending right shoulder injury
in Week 3 last year.
