KWBG Sports for November 17th

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Kobe Bryant scored 31 points, Shannon Brown
added 16 of his 21 in the fourth quarter, and the Los Angeles
Lakers beat the Milwaukee Bucks 118-107 to snap a two-game losing
streak. Los Angeles had started 8-0 before the consecutive losses
slowed the Lakers' early season momentum.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Maya Moore's 30 points, seven rebounds
and six steals helped Connecticut's top-ranked women's team rally
from eight down in the second half to nip second-ranked Baylor
65-64. That's the Huskies' 80th straight win, eight shy of tying
the NCAA Division I basketball record of 88 straight victories set
by the UCLA men's team from 1971 to 1974.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - In men's hoops, Jared Sullinger and
David Lighty scored 26 points apiece and fourth-ranked Ohio State
beat No. 9 Florida 93-75 in an early season matchup of teams with
national championship hopes. William Buford added 16 for the 2-0
Buckeyes.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Louisville coach Rick Pitino has called
this a "bridge year," but his Cardinals already have pulled off a
minor shocker in the college basketball season. Louisville
christened its new downtown arena with an 88-73 upset of No. 16
Butler, last season's NCAA runner-up, as Rakeem Buckles scored 17
and Louisville held the Bulldogs to 35 percent shooting.

NEW YORK (AP) - A perfect game, a postseason no-hitter and a
21-win regular season all added up to a unanimous vote for
Philadelphia's Roy Halladay as the NL Cy Young Award winner.
Halladay captured the AL Cy Young Award with the Blue Jays in 2003,
and is now the fifth pitcher to earn the honor in both leagues.
