KWBG Sports for November 19th

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tenth-ranked Alabama warmed up for its
showdown a week from Saturday against second-ranked Auburn by
shellacking Georgia State 63-7. It's the most points scored by the
Crimson Tide since a 66-3 win over Vanderbilt in 1979.

UNDATED (AP) - An attorney for Kenny Rogers says his client
knows he made "a stupid decision" when he sent a fellow
Mississippi State booster a text of Cecil Newton's payment plan to
secure his son's commitment to the Bulldogs. The Newtons' attorney,
George Lawson, tells Atlanta's WSB-TV that he is "one million
percent" certain Cam Newton - who signed with Auburn - did not
take any money.

MIAMI (AP) - The Chicago Bears used a stout defense to blank
Miami 16-0 for only the Dolphins' second shutout at home in 40
seasons. Robbie Gould (gohld) kicked three field goals before Matt
Forte (FOHR'-tay) scored on a short TD run late in the third
quarter as the Bears took a half-game lead over idle Green Bay in
the NFC North.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - North Carolina freshman Harrison
Barnes, a preseason AP All-American, scored a game-high 19 points
all in the first half of eighth-ranked North Carolina's 107-63 win
over Hofstra on Thursday in the opening round of the Puerto Rico
Tip-Off. Barnes made all four 3-point attempts and helped the 2-0
Tar Heels storm out to a 25-point lead.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - There was a wild NHL game in Philadelphia
last night as Steven Stamkos had his second hat trick of the season
and added two assists in the Tampa Bay Lightning's 8-7 win over the
Flyers. The teams combined for nine goals in the opening 20
minutes.
