the NFL draft. Besides Cam Newton to Carolina, Tennessee took U. of

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Formerly all-male Texas A&M is the holder of the women's NCAA basketball title for the first time. The Aggies downed Notre Dame 76-70 in last night's championship game.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - After making up ground on Western Conference leader San Antonio with a nine-game winning streak, the Lakers have backtracked by losing two straight while the Spurs were winning two in a row. L.A. trails San Antonio by 3 1/2 games with five games left.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - You can understand a little letdown after clinching the Presidents' Trophy for the league's top record, and that's just what's happened to the Canucks. Last-place Edmonton beat Vancouver 4-1 for their second straight win over the first-place club. The Canucks have lost consecutive games after winning 12 of 13 to clinch home-ice advantage throughout the playoffs.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Predicted by many to win the AL East, the Red Sox are off to their worst start since opening 0-6 in 1996. Boston is 0-4 after a 3-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians.

LONDON (AP) - After previously turning down women's ski jumping for the 2010 Vancouver Games, Olympic officials tell The Associated Press that the event is one of five that have been approved for inclusion in the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi (SOH'-chee). Ski halfpipe, mixed relay in biathlon, and team events in luge and figure skating are the others. Slopestyle events in snowboard and freestyle skiing and a team Alpine skiing event were put on hold.

Arkansas.

KWBG Sports for April 1st

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Clayton Kershaw struck out nine and allowed just four hits in seven dominant innings in pitching the L.A. Dodgers to a 2-1 victory over the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants. That makes new Dodgers manager Don Mattingly a winner in his managerial debut. CINCINNATI (AP) - There were some late-inning heroics at Great America Ballpark where last year the Cincinnati Reds won their first six home games in their final at-bat. Yesterday in the Reds' 2011 season opener, Ramon Hernandez hit a two-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth in their 7-6 come-from-behind win over Milwaukee. PHILADELPHIA (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies send out NL Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay this afternoon in their home opener against Houston, which sends out ex-Phillie Brett Myers in the opener. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The former personal shopper for Barry Bonds has testified at his perjury trial that she saw the all-time home run leader getting an injection from his trainer.
