lowered his ERA to 0.99 by pitching the L.A. Angels past Oakland
5-0. Weaver is the majors' first six-game winner.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The top-seeded San Antonio Spurs are
facing a must-win game Wednesday night at home against upstart
Memphis. Mike Conley had 15 points and seven assists to help the
eighth-seeded Grizzlies rout the Spurs 104-86 to take a 3-series
lead heading to Wednesday night's showdown.
DALLAS (AP) - Dirk Nowitzki (noh-VIHT'-skee) scored 11 of his 25
points in the third quarter and the Dallas Mavericks beat the
Portland Trail Blazers 93-82 to take a 3-2 lead in that first-round
series. The teams have two days off before the Mavs try to put away
the Blazers in Portland in Game 6 Thursday night.
CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Bulls look like they will have point
guard Derrick Rose in the lineup when they try to close out the
Indiana Pacers in Game 5 tonight at United Center. Rose is getting
over a sprained ankle but he says he's playing, just two days after
he was walking around with his left foot in a walking boot as a
precautionary measure.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A federal judge in Minnesota has granted the
NFL players a preliminary injunction to lift the lockout, now in
its seventh week. If the injunction is upheld on appeal, the NFL
must resume business, although under what guidelines is uncertain.
