KWBG Sports for April 12th

ATLANTA (AP) - The Miami Heat will be the No. 2 seed and the
Boston Celtics No. 3 in the NBA's Eastern Conference playoffs. The
Heat locked up the second seed by beating Atlanta 98-90 and then
watching Boston sit four of its starters in the Celtics' 95-94
overtime loss in Washington.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Players from the Los Angeles Dodgers and
San Francisco Giants gathered on the pitcher's mound before last
night's game to remind fans that the rivalry must remain on the
field, without violence. The players gathered before the
Giants-Dodgers series opener at AT&T Park to make clear there
should be no repeat of the events following their season opener
March 31 when longtime Giants fan Bryan Stow was assaulted outside
Dodger Stadium and left in a medically induced coma.

BOSTON (AP) - Sam Fuld went 4 for 6 with a two-run homer, drove
in three runs and fell a single shy of the cycle to help the Tampa
Bay Rays bust out of an early season slump with a 16-5 win over
Boston. Ex-Red Sox star Johnny Damon had three hits, including a
solo homer in his first game back at Fenway Park in a Rays uniform.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - There's a glimmer of hope for NFL fans
hoping for a timely start to the pro football season. A federal
judge in Minnesota has ordered both sides to return to the
bargaining table under the auspices of a federal mediator, and the
talks will resume Thursday in Minnesota.

STORRS, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut has called a news conference
today when it's expected that junior guard Kemba Walker will
announce he's entering the NBA draft. Walker just led UConn to its
third national championship and is projected as a first-round pick.
