KWBG Sports for April 5th

HOUSTON (AP) - Jim Calhoun joined some pretty good company last
night when Connecticut wrapped up a third national title with a
53-41 victory over Butler in the NCAA final. He joins John Wooden,
Adolph Rupp, Mike Krzyzewski (shuh-SHEF'-skee) and Bob Knight as
the only coaches with three or more championships. And at the age
of 68, Calhoun is the oldest coach to win a title.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Frank Haith is returning to the Big 12 as
Missouri's basketball coach. Haith is a former assistant under Rick
Barnes at Texas, who spent the last seven seasons posting a 129-101
record at Miami. He replaces Mike Anderson, who left to coach
Arkansas.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)- Joe Thornton had a goal and an assist to
give him 999 career points and help San Jose clinch its fourth
straight Pacific Division title with a 6-1 victory over the Los
Angeles Kings. It's the Sharks' eighth win in nine games.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - After a 45-minute delay to give workers time
to clean debris from overnight storms before practice rounds at the
Masters, Augusta National opened its gates to badge holders. World
No. 1 Martin Kaymer (KY'-mur) and Alex Cejka (CHAY'-kuh) were first
to venture out on the course.

BRUSSELS (AP) - Kim Clijsters (KLY'-sturz) won't have much time
to prepare for the French Open. The Belgian tennis star has
announced that she's be sidelined for a month with shoulder and
wrist injuries. The U.S. Open and Australian Open champion hopes to
be back on the court May 9 in Rome, giving her two weeks to get
ready for the clay courts in Paris.
