Blackhawks, once down 3-0 in their first-round playoff series
against Vancouver, have won three straight games and will travel to
Vancouver for a deciding seventh game tomorrow night. Ben Smith's
first career overtime goal at 15:30 of OT gave the Blackhawks a 4-3
win over the Canucks.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The Philadelphia Flyers will be home
tomorrow night for a Game 7 to decide their first-round playoff
against the Buffalo Sabres. The Flyers roared back from a two-goal
deficit to beat the Sabres 5-4 Ville Leino's (LAY'-nohz) goal at
4:43 of overtime yesterday.
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Brandt Snedeker's
(SNEH'-deh-kurz) victory on the third playoff hole over Luke Donald
in The Heritage has denied Donald the No. 1 spot in the world golf
rankings. As it is, Lee Westwood has taken over the No. 1 ranking
in the world in golf.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The Atlanta Braves are celebrating their
first series sweep in San Francisco since 1998. Nate McLouth's
two-run single off Brian Wilson with two outs in the 10th inning
drove in the go-ahead runs in the Braves' 9-6 win over the World
Series champion Giants.
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - The Boston Red Sox appear to have put
their early season woes behind them. Ex-Angel John Lackey hurled
eight strong innings and the Red Sox posted their fifth straight
victory by blanking the L.A. Angels 7-0 to move within one game of
the .500 mark.
