KWBG Sports for January 20th

DALLAS (AP) - The Dallas Mavericks broke out of their
season-high six-game losing streak with a 109-100 win over the L.A.
Lakers. Jason Kidd scored a season-high 21 on 8 of 12 shooting
after making just 1 of 14 shots of his previous two games.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - You won't be seeing Carmelo Anthony in a New
Jersey Nets uniform any time soon. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov has
nixed any proposed Anthony trade, saying the long-rumored trade
distracted his team, which then went out and ended their six-game
losing streak with a 103-95 win over Utah last night.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - The Portland Trail Blazers say center
Marcus Camby will need surgery on his left knee and there is no
timetable for his return. He joins All-Star Brandon Roy, who just
had arthroscopic surgery on both knees, and oft-injured center Greg
Oden on the Trail Blazers' injured list.

NEW YORK (AP) - Marian Gaborik (MEHR'-ee-uhn GA'-bohr-ihk) had
four goals and an assist three days after being benched and the New
York Rangers scored early and often in a 7-0 victory over the
Toronto Maple Leafs. Gaborik picked up the offensive slack just a
few hours after the Rangers said leading scorer Brandon Dubinsky
would be out three to four weeks because of a stress fracture in
his left leg.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) - Rafael Nadal (rah-fay-ehl nah-DAHL')
extended his Grand Slam winning streak to 23 matches, beating
American qualifier Ryan Sweeting 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 to reach the third
round of the Australian Open. The top-ranked Nadal is aiming to be
the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four Grand Slam
titles at the same time.
