KWBG Sports for October 15th

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - After a two-day lull, Major League
Baseball's playoffs resume tonight with Game 1 of the AL
championship series between the Texas Rangers and visiting New York
Yankees. C.J. Wilson will throw the first pitch. He'll be opposed
by fellow left-hander CC Sabathia (suh-BATH'-ee-uh) of the Yanks.

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (AP) - Four days after climbing back into the
AP poll following a two-week absence, West Virginia would seem to
have extended its stay by at least another week. The 25th-ranked
Mountaineers improved to 5-1 with a 20-6 Big East victory over
South Florida under the lights in Morgantown.

UNDATED (AP) - College basketball returns to the scene tonight
with its annual "Midnight Madness" celebrations. Defending men's
champion Duke is among those taking part. And Connecticut's
two-time defending champion women's squad will also be featured.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - University of Connecticut officials are
attending a morning hearing before the NCAA infractions committee
on previously acknowledged violations in UConn's men's basketball
program. The university says the evidence does not support the
NCAA's finding that coach Jim Calhoun failed to promote an
atmosphere for compliance.

UNDATED (AP) - The NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning are off to a
3-and-0 start following a 3-2 win over Stanley Cup finalist
Philadelphia. Nashville hung on to defeat St. Louis 4-3 last night
and is 3-and-0 for just the second time in club history, while
Dallas got to 3-and-0 with a 4-1 victory over Detroit.
