KWBG Sports for October 29th

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The San Francisco Giants are taking a 2-0
lead in the World Series to Texas where they hope to continue their
hot hitting in Game 3 Saturday night. Matt Cain and two relievers
combined on a four-hitter and the Giants blanked Texas 9-0 in Game
2, breaking open a close game with seven runs in the bottom of the
eighth.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Baseball commissioner Bud Selig is willing
to consider expanding the playoffs as early as next year. Selig
says a larger postseason might not have to wait for collective
bargaining with the players' association, even though union head
Michael Weiner said earlier this week that any changes in the
playoff format couldn't come until at least the 2012 season.

NEW YORK (AP) - A source with knowledge of the negotiations says
the New York Yankees and Joe Girardi have agreed in principle on a
new $9 million, three-year contract. Girardi has managed the Yanks
for three seasons, including guiding them to their 27th World
Series title last year.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - Brett Favre (fahrv), whose NFL-record
streak of 291 starts at quarterback is at risk, has shed the
walking boot he has been wearing to protect two small ankle
fractures. The 41-year-old quarterback has not practiced this week
but when asked if he thought he could play against New England,
Favre quipped: "I wouldn't put anything past me, to be honest with
you."

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - In college football, N.C. State upset
16th-ranked Florida State 28-24 on Russell Wilson's fourth-down TD
pass to George Bryan with 2:40 left. Wilson also ran for three
touchdowns for the 6-and-2 Wolfpack, who surpassed their victory
total from last season.
