the fourth quarter to lead Memphis to a surprising 98-96 win over
the Lakers. Kobe Bryant scored 29 for the Lakers, who have lost
three straight.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Charlotte leading scorer Stephen Jackson
will miss Wednesday's game at New Orleans after being suspended for
a game by the NBA. The Bobcats guard was penalized for verbally
abusing an official and failing to leave the court in a timely
manner after being ejected Saturday in a game against Milwaukee.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Jason Clark's three 3-pointers in
overtime helped No. 16 Georgetown fend off ninth-ranked Missouri
111-102 in overtime. The Tigers erased an 18-point halftime deficit
but made just one of four free throws in the final 17 seconds of
regulation.

NEW YORK (AP) - The Yankees and Derek Jeter resumed talks
Tuesday in an effort to sign the team captain to a new contract,
according to a baseball official familiar with the discussion.
Yankees co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner says he expects that the two
sides will get a new deal done.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say there is not enough
evidence to charge Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt in a bar
fight Oct. 22. A customer at the bar told investigators that Britt
was among those who assaulted him. Britt denies hitting anyone.
