Charlotte's 100-98 win over Denver that snapped the Nuggets
seven-game winning streak. The Bobcats win also prevented Denver
coach George Karl from becoming the seventh NBA coach to record
1,000 victories.
NEW YORK (AP) - Rick Jackson matched his season-high with 17
points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lead No. 8 Syracuse to a 72-58
victory over No. 7 Michigan State. Scoop Jardine had 19 points for
the 9-0 Orange, who took the lead 4 1/2 minutes into the game and
never relinquished it.
EDMONTON (AP) - Defenseman Cam Fowler scored the game winning
goal in the tenth round of a shootout to give Anaheim a 3-2 win
over Edmonton. The 18-year old beat Oilers goalie Nikolai
Khabibulin (hah-bee-BOO'-lihn) who had stopped eight previous Ducks
players after giving up a goal to Joffrey Lupul in the first round
of the shootout.
CHICAGO (AP) - Blackhawks star Patrick Kane could be out for up
to three weeks with a leg injury suffered in Sunday's win over
Calgary. The 22-year-old has 11 goals and 16 assists this season.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) - Texas A&M's Von Miller has won the
Butkus Award as college football's best linebacker. Miller had 9
1/2 sacks to lead the Big 12 and finished with 59 tackles, three
forced fumbles and two recoveries for the 9-3 Aggies.
