KWBG Sports for December 21st

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - In what could have been Brett Favre's
(fahvrz) final NFL game, the Chicago Bears clinched the NFC North
with a convincing 40-14 victory over Minnesota. The 41-year-old
quarterback started the game but was knocked out after sustaining a
head injury in the second quarter when Bears defensive end Corey
Wootton tossed him hard to the frozen outdoor turf at University of
Minnesota stadium.

MIAMI (AP) - The Miami Heat's 12-game win streak is history. The
Dallas Mavericks beat the heat for the 14th straight time in the
regular season, 98-96, behind Dirk Nowitzki's (noh-VIHT'-skeez) 26
points.

ATLANTA (AP) - Al Horford scored 24 points and the Atlanta Hawks
rolled to a 91-81 victory over Dwight Howard and the reconstructed
Orlando Magic. Newcomers Gilbert Arenas made just two of 11 shots
for 10 points, Jason Richardson had nine points and Hedo Turkoglu
(HAY'-doo TURK'-oh-loo) eight.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The top-ranked University of Connecticut
women's team can play its way into the basketball record books
tonight. The 10-0 Huskies go for their record-breaking 89th
consecutive victory when they host 22nd-ranked Florida State.
They're trying to break the UCLA men's teams' unbeaten streak from
the early 1970s.

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski (shuh-SHEF'-skee)
tied Dean Smith for second place on the all-time wins list with his
