start of the season, knuckleballer Tim Wakefield and two relievers
combined on a five-hitter.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police have released the name of
a suspect in the Dodger Stadium beating of a San Francisco Giants
fan on opening night two months ago. Police say that 31-year-old
Giovanni Ramirez of Los Angeles has been booked for assault with a
deadly weapon and is being held on $1 million bail.
MIAMI (AP) - Chris Bosh scored 34 points, LeBron James added 22
and the Miami Heat took a 2-1 lead in the Eastern Conference finals
by beating the Chicago Bulls 96-85 last night. Bosh missed his
first three shots, then went 13 for 15 from the floor the rest of
the way for Miami, which hosts Game 4 tomorrow night.
UNDATED (AP) - Lance Armstrong's former teammate, Tyler
Hamilton, told "60 Minutes" that Armstrong and other team leaders
encouraged, promoted and took part in a doping program in an effort
to win the Tour de France in 1999 and beyond. The seven-time Tour
de France champion has long denied doping and has never tested
positive for banned substances.
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - The Vancouver Canucks can earn their
first trip to the Stanley Cup finals since 1994 with a victory
tomorrow night at home against San Jose. The Canucks took a 3-1
series lead by beating the Sharks 4-2 yesterday, scoring three
goals in a two-minute span of the second period, all on 5-on-3
power plays.
