(leer-ee-AH'-noh) is celebrating throwing the first no-hitter of
the Major League season, and sixth in Twins history. Liriano got
Adam Dunn to line out to shortstop for the final out in the Twins'
1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox last night.
UNDATED (AP) - The Miami Heat are going to Boston up 2-0 in
their Eastern Conference semifinal after last night's 102-91 win
over the Celtics behind 35 points from LeBron James. In the Western
Conference, Oklahoma City squared its series at a game apiece by
beating the Memphis Grizzlies 111-102.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - A source tells The Associated Press that Los
Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin will be named the NBA's
Rookie of the Year today. Griffin's victory is absolutely no
surprise after his spectacular season in which he averaged 22.5
points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists and becoming one of the NBA's
most fearsome and entertaining dunkers.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - The Tampa Bay Lightning can finish
their sweep of the Washington Capitals tonight at St. Pete Times
Forum. Steven Stamkos and Ryan Malone scored 24 seconds apart in
the third period as Tampa Bay rallied for a 4-3 victory that gives
the Lightning a 3-0 series lead.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Ryan Kesler scored his second power-play
goal at 10:45 of overtime, and the Vancouver Canucks beat the
Nashville Predators 3-2 and grabbed a 2-1 lead in the Western
Conference semifinal series last night. Fans in the sellout crowd
